Turn your favourite pink tea into your new favourite (healthy!) breakfast! It's no secret, chia seed puddings are one of the best and easiest make-ahead breakfasts to have in the fridge. Chia seeds are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, antioxidants, iron, and calcium. A 1 ounce serving of chia seeds contains a whole 5.6 grams of protein! Pair this with fruits, nuts and granola and you have a delicious balanced breakfast. This one is inspired by (and infused with) our Toasty Almond herbal tea! Sweet apple, cinnamon, and almonds make this chia parfait a tea-lish treat!
1 1⁄4 cup vanilla almond milk
4 teaspoons Toasty Almond herbal tea ( or 3 tea bags)
honey to taste (optional)
1⁄2 cup chia seeds
1⁄4 cup shaved almonds
1⁄3 cup granola
1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
Makes 2 servings
Heat the milk on the stove, add loose leaf tea in a filter or tea bag and steep for 5-10 mins. You can also add the loose leaf tea right to the milk and strain after steeping, be sure to press all the milk out of the tea. Add honey to sweeten if you desire, set aside and allow to cool.
Divide the Toasty Almond infused milk in half. Pour one half of the milk between 2 jars evenly. Stir in 3 tablespoons of chia seeds to each jar, mixing well. Add the remaining chia seeds to the remaining half of milk and stir. Allow to set in the refrigerator for 5 mins.
In the meantime, chop up an apple into small cubes and toss with cinnamon. Once the chia pudding has set, start layering! Almonds, apples, granola - spoon on another layer of chia pudding and top again. Now enjoy your guilt free tea-infused treat!
