Unique from other Japanese green teas (which are steamed), Hojicha is roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal and then fired at a high temperature. This reduces the caffeine content of the infusion, making Hojicha a popular tea to consume in the evening. Hojicha is full bodied, with a rich toasty aroma and nutty flavour.
